Certified Sports Media Makes Company History

Two years ago, the Diverse Representation organization established July 7th, “National Black Women in Sports Day.” To this day, it is observed annually and celebrated widely across the sports industry to highlight black women competing in athletics and those working behind the scenes.
For the Certified Sports Media brand, celebrating meant partnering with a colleague from Florida Atlantic University to unify women in South Florida at their “Black Women in Sports” celebration event.
Casz Clayton, founder of Certified Sports Media, said, “the event was meant to build community, camaraderie, and network- to build the sisterhood we need as women in the sports industry.”

The event accomplished its intended goal, as guests were able to connect with each other and cultivate relationships throughout the night. CSM took it a step further by awarding Alanah Charles, a guest at the event, the first scholarship awarded in Certified Sports Media history.
The impressive part: Certified Sports Media was able to accomplish this just weeks before the brand's one year anniversary. Casz Clayton had more to add about how they were able to accomplish this feat so quickly.
“Anything I put my mind to, I know I’m capable of doing, so I always believed this was a possibility,” the South Florida native said, “I just had to execute it.”
As for Alanah, she was extremely grateful to be the brand's first scholarship recipient because of what CSM means for the “community.” Alanah is going to The University of Nebraska-Lincoln and wants to leave people with a very specific message about what the Certified Sports Media brand means for young people like herself.
“Certified Sports Media is not just any media outlet, [Clayton’s] brand is the voice and eyes that the community needs,” Charles said, “Media is evolving but CSM is in the middle of it all. Who else is better to go to than the queen of SoFlo?”

The nickname is one of many donned by Casz Clayton, CSM’s founder, but more importantly she is a beacon of hope for everyone she represents. Her final message is one of hope for what the future of Certified Sports Media holds for the community.
“Going forward, I knew I didn’t want my platform to only provide exposure for athletes,” Clayton said, “I wanted it to be a platform where women like myself – and young men trying to break into the field – can grow.”
As for future events the public can look forward to from the brand, Clayton sent a promising message.
“This is just the beginning for community events. It’s so important that we get together.”
